Hello and welcome to our Summer Newsletter  -  and Summer weather it has been, nothing short of stunning!
Aside from the small reminder we had in November not to get too excited about Summer with a dusting of fresh snow...
The Turnkey team remain busy.  With 5 houses being handed over in the last few weeks.  Some comments from clients I have been involved with include "Stoked, Delighted, Overwhelmed, Love It."  I can relate to all of those.

Our home continues to be the Show Home and I feel so proud with the positive comments and feedback.

Team Profile:
Darryn Slee - (Sparrow)
Sparrow as he is known to all who work at Turnkey Homes is a founding member of the team and has been with the company from the start.  He even built the first house for Turnkey all those years ago.

His role at Turnkey Homes is Senior Foreman, being in charge of a team of 7.  He loves to build challenging houses of which we do many.  Having a real eye for detail and being a master of getting things right.

Sparrow did his apprenticeship in building back in 1984 at the age of 15 so he has plenty of experience and has lived in Wanaka for the past 17 years.  He went to Antarctica for 12 months a couple of years ago as the senior carpenter which was a once in a lifetime opportunity. He even has a few pics and a small video about his experiences.

When not building Turnkey houses, you will find Sparrow up in the hills hunting and tramping.  He also plays outdoor bowls which he thoroughly enjoys.

We are very thankful to have him as part of the team.
Industry News
LVL Framing and Trusses:
At Turnkey Homes we predominantly use LVL Framing.  LVL stands for Laminated Veneer Lumber.  This is an engineered wood product that provides a consistent, high performance alternative to solid timber.

We source this through NelsonPine which operates one of the largest and most modern LVL production lines in the Asia Pacific region.  NelsonPine LVL8 meets the structural and durability requirements of the NZ Building Codes Clauses B1 and B2 when installed in accordance with NZS3604 and NZS3602.

The advantages of LVL Framing are that it doesn't tend to bend, ie stays straight which is a big plus to keeping walls true.  It also comes in an Ex150mm size which means you get a much deeper wall on the outside of your house.  The benefit of this is a more solid home and a higher "R rating" for insulation in the external walls this keeps it warmer in those colder Wanaka months.
